Each entity using the environment is required to pay fees for the use of the environment. Obliged to pay fees are entrepreneurs established under the Act of 27 April 2001 on freedom of running business, but also the people who carry out production in agriculture, the persons practicing medical profession, organizations and individuals that are not economic entities.
According to the regulations environmental charges shall be payable for:
- the introduction of gas or dust into the air (transport, heating, all kinds of technologies, resulting in emissions to the air, such as welding, painting, gluing, etc.),
- the introduction of sewage into the water or ground, including the melt-water and rainfall from contaminated surfaces (paved squares, parking, streets, etc.),
- water withdrawal from own intakes,
- storing wastes.
According to the Environmental Protection Act the Offices of the Presidents are required to support environmental and products charges.
