XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) is an electronic means for exchange and publication of the economic reports (non-financial and financial) developed and maintained by XBRL International. It is a non-profit organization bringing together various stakeholders such as commercial IT enterprises and state authorities.
The main purpose of XBRL is to establish common rules for reports marking and financial information to facilitate their automatic processing and analysis. The standard does not impose new reporting rules but rather reflects the existing legal regulations and norms such as "The Law on Accounting” or IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards). XBRL is based on XML (eXtensible Markup Language) and it can be used regardless of the operating system the user is working on.
